Club Secretary David Meier
My name is Dave Meier and thank you very much for clicking on to my page.
I have been a Leeds United fan throughout my life which has now thankfully stretched to 47years. Over all this time I have seen many highs and lows from Super Leeds.
My very first time to see Leeds united play was in 1978 away in Goodison, Everton. A very memorable afternoon, unless you were the Evertonian sitting beside me. My first visit to Elland Road came in 1980, when I had the pleasure to see Leeds wallop Derby four nil.
My greatest memory has to be the 1972 Centenary FA Cup Final. I can still hear the voice of the BBC’s David Coleman as we scored our winner “Clarke One Nil”, ringing in my ears as it was yesterday.
My worst memory was the 1973 FA Cup Final when the late Ian Porterfield shattered my cup final dream by scoring the Sunderland winner. I am not ashamed to say I cried a tear that evening.
My favourite Leeds United player of all time is Johnny Giles, no debate.
In later years I became a soccer referee and was successful enough to go through the ranks and officiate at League of Ireland and International level. To which I was most grateful to those who helped and encouraged me along the way, especially John Ward, Paddy Daly, Eddie Corcoran and the late Paddy Brady.
I was recently appointed as Secretary of Dublin Leeds United Members Club. I feel that it is quite an honour to represent our members and to work hard to raise the profile of this great club.
Finally I would like you to come along and join our members club and to take trips across the Irish Sea to watch Leeds United play.
MOT
David Meier
